  • DAAD-SEARCA scholar wins big at the 3MT Competition in Universiti Putra Malaysia

    DAAD-SEARCA scholar Nor Akhlisah Zulkipli won 1st Runner-up and People's Choice Award at the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) faculty level competition in Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) on 05 April 2021. Her win qualified her for the university-level competition where she bagged 2nd Runner-up on 22 April 2021. She was also chosen to represent UPM in the 3MT National Competition for the engineering category in June 2021. The 3MT competition was first developed by the University of Queensland and subsequently carried out in other Australian and New Zealand universities.   • SEARCA stays connected with virtual hangout for scholars

    The Education and Collective Learning Department (ECLD) of SEARCA conducted a virtual hangout with the scholars through the Graduate Scholarship and Institutional Development Unit (GSID). Despite communicating regularly through emails and other online messaging applications, SEARCA would like to situate its scholars given the challenges to their graduate studies in this new normal. Six sessions were held on April 19, 20, 23, and 26 for the full MS/PhD scholars studying at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universitas Brawijaya (UB), IPB University, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), and Kasetsart University (KU).     The Education and Collective Learning Department (ECLD) of SEARCA shared the sweet story of local cacao farmers in Indonesia inside an integrated “farmer-to-bar” chocolate company.     The Education and Collective Learning Department (ECLD) of SEARCA will conduct the 1st GSID Conversations on 16 April 2021, 10:30 AM (GMT +8:00) for SEARCA Scholars and Southeast Asian University Consortium for Graduate Education in Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC) Grantees. Prior to the pandemic, ECLD planned to host sessions with SEARCA scholars in response to their request for learning events besides the training on writing thesis/dissertation proposals, data analysis and experimental designs, basic English course, student orientation, and teambuilding.
