Dato’ Ir. Dr. Radin Umar bin Radin Sohadi has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) effective 1 January 2011. Dr. Sohadi finished his undergraduate degree in Engineering (1984) and Masters degree in Engineering (1985) from the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom. He earned his PhD in the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom in 1996.

He specializes in Road Safety Engineering and has published a number of papers regarding road safety and assessment of existing policies on road safety in Malaysia.
